This will help interested parties to see what kind of condition it's in and help increase your odds of getting it sold.Ĥ. It is highly recommended that you post a current photograph of the item you are selling. Items can be sold in groups or individually and can be "or best offer" (OBO) but must have a starting price point.ģ. Put what the item is AND the location of the item in the title of the ad. In order to maintain uniformity and fairness please follow these rules when posting in the classified sections:ġ. The comforts of a newer vehicle are pretty nice too making it hard to go back to an old CJ once youve gotten used to them.Classifieds If it's for sale or wanted, this is the section for it. I liked mine but once i got a job i needed a more reliable car that i could take on trips and not worry about it breaking down 5 hours from home. There are plenty ofo power upgrades for the 258 if you feel like you need it though or you can always swap engines for relatively cheap. Mine was pretty bad with 2.73 gears and 31" tires. I dont know if youve ever driven one on the highway either but they tend to be sluggish even with the 258 especially if you ahve anythign larger than stock tires with stock high gearing. Usually id get where im going before it got hot enough to turn the heat on. Its not too bad in the summer when its warm but in the winter especially with just a soft top it can be pretty annoying somtimes waiting for it to heat up and it doesnt ahve the most effective defrosting capabilities. I still drive mine back and forth to work everyonce in a while (when its actually running) but i have a new DD now. Its a fun vehicle, and you just dont see many of them onteh road anymore. I have a CJ7 that used to be my DD, and drove it 300 miles back and forth to school a few times a year. I'll just hand a 1/4 of it over to Napa and Oreilys now and save the rest. I guess I'm just tired of handing my money over to the big 3. Drive that new Ford, Dodge or Chevy off the lot and see what it's worth an hour later. Not to mention when I drove my Jeep away from the PO, it didn't loose any value. With a new ride that you baby, you don't plan on it taking a giant dump on you.say good bye to $20,000, $30,000 or even $40,000 bucks. It's going to cost $$$ to keep it going and there is no such thing as a warranty when the company you're dealing with is in financial hard times looking to save every cent they can.Īt least with the Jeep I expect it to break down and I can save and plan accordingly.

After that, I decided it doesnt matter what you have. I ended up with a check for $6k and a worthless truck with no warranty. Last winter while it was warming up in the drive, I came out to find it DOA.

Root cause was found to be bad injector seals flooded the CC and washed my bearings. I had to take DC to court because they said I voided the warranty with an aftermarket air cleaner I got for better fuel mileage. This thing was bone stock, still had the stock tires and exh on it. I had a $40K+ Dodge 2500 Cummins Ram that I ordered new in 2005. Maybe charge admission to get some of my money back.

If it ever gives me problems that are too much for me to handle, I'll just re-enact the flag raising on Iwo Jima and fill the old Jeep full of lead and make a lawn ornament out of it. Then again, I have a back up vehicle to fall on if it breaks too bad. I guess anyone can drive a new truck, not everyone can drive a 30 year old Jeep around and keep it going. It vibrates, rattles, squeeks and drives like a log truck, but it's the only one like it on the road. I drive my CJ8 60 miles round trip daily on a secondary road where the speed limit is 60. I've already dropped $1000 of that $10k saved back into it just to make the fuel and ignition system modern/reliable. Not sure yet if I made the right choice or not. Another $10,000 and I could have had a new shortbed Chevy Silverado work truck. It was show room OEM condition when I got it. I'm not sure I would want to have it as my one and only ride in life.

My CJ8 is a daily driver for when the roads are nasty, but it is my back up vehicle.
